Benefits of Regular Lawn Maintenance
Aside from enhancing your curb appeal and the overall look of your home, mowing your lawn regularly (once every 5-8 days) is one of the best things that you can do for the long-term health of your lawn!
Like all plants, grass gets the energy it needs from the sun. From there, photosynthesis helps your grass blades to grow thicker and healthier. When you mow your lawn regularly, each blade of grass is getting the right amount of sunlight. When you let your lawn go too long between trims, the process of photosynthesis slows down, which can lead to dull, dry, or yellowing grass.
Mowing your lawn regularly is the best way to keep your grass at a healthy height (we recommend 2.5-3.5” depending on the season), which helps to prevent weeds from taking over your lawn. When grass is allowed to grow too long, this also leaves time for weeds to grow and spread seeds throughout your yard. On the flip side, when grass is cut too short, your soil could be overexposed to the sun, allowing dormant seeds to sprout.
Mowing regularly also allows your grass to grow and strengthen its root system! Over time, this helps to promote lateral growth, allowing your grass to grow into bare and thin areas, crowd out weeds, and create an overall full and healthy lawn.
Long grass attracts mosquitoes, ticks, and other insects who might take shelter in your lawn. Keeping your grass trimmed regularly helps to mitigate the presence of pests in your yard!
Finally, mowing your lawn regularly makes the job easier over time! Rather than struggling to mow an overgrown lawn every couple of weeks, you’ll be able to easily trim your already tidy lawn in a much shorter period of time!
